Summer nights in the backcountry are often too warm for a mummy bag, which is where a 400 g (14 oz) synthetic quilt makes sense. The Sparrow 45 uses a single layer of continuous-filament polyester insulation, light at this temperature range and unaffected by humidity or heavy dew.
With snaps and a drawcord at the foot it forms a closed footbox; opened fully, it drapes like a comforter. Pad loops along the sides accept the same elastic straps used by the Hushwing down quilt. Rated for 45°F (7°C), it also works as an extra layer over a winter bag or as a camp blanket, though sparks from a fire will melt the 15-denier nylon shell.
Machine washable in cold water. Packs to roughly the size of a 1-liter bottle. Shown in ochre with a slate blue interior.
