Description
Ten centimeters (4 in) of foam and air turn the back of an SUV or a tent floor into something close to a real mattress. The Homestead is a self-inflating double pad measuring 198 x 132 cm (78 x 52 in), with a vertically cored foam interior that inflates mostly by itself and firms up with a few breaths.
Two large valves at the foot speed up inflation and deflation, and firmness is set by letting a little air out. A stretch knit top sheet is soft and quiet, and the anti-slip base grips tent floors. With an R-value of 7.0, it is comfortable well into winter. It rolls to 68 x 30 cm (27 x 12 in) and weighs 4.8 kg (10 lb 9 oz), so it is strictly a car camping pad.
