International travel and questionable tap water are where the Clearline earns its keep. Press the inner cartridge down through the 710 ml (24 oz) outer chamber and, in about eight seconds, it removes viruses, bacteria and protozoa while reducing particulates, chlorine taste and some heavy metals. Drink right away through the flip-top spout or pour into another container.
The cartridge combines a positively charged media layer with activated carbon and lasts roughly 300 presses, about 200 liters, before pressing becomes noticeably harder, a built-in signal that it’s time for a replacement. Because it works by pressing rather than squeezing, it’s equally easy to fill from sinks, streams and hotel taps. It weighs 450 g (15.9 oz). Keep the cartridge from freezing.
