Description
When trails turn to ice, the Hoarfrost has 12 tungsten carbide studs set into its outsole, positioned under the forefoot and heel for grip on hard ice and frozen slush. They sit flush enough that short stretches of cleared road are no problem, though the studs are not replaceable.
An integrated softshell gaiter zips over the lacing to keep snow out. Instead of a membrane, the upper uses a water-resistant, brushed-back fabric that stays warm while letting sweat escape. The 30 mm heel stack (6 mm drop) uses a cold-resistant foam that does not harden in freezing temperatures, and 5 mm lugs dig into deep snow. It weighs 360 g (12.7 oz) in a men’s US 9.
A seasonal model; new stock lands in November. Shown in charcoal with glacier blue accents, a grey midsole and a black outsole.
